Lady Chants surge to top of Kiawah Island leaderboard

ccuwgolf-kiawahThe Coastal Carolina women’s golf team has moved into first place at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic after shooting a seven-over 295 during today’s round.  The Chanticleers now stand eight-over 584 (289-295).

Once again Malen Krolboll Hansen came in with a two-under 70 in today’s round and will enter the final day of competition five-under (69-70-139) and in second place overall, just one shot back of Laura Fuenfstueck from the College of Charleston.

Stephanie Henning and Victoria Parker had solid 74’s in today’s round with Parker (73-74-147) tied for 17th at three-over and Henning (74-74-148) tied for 22nd at four-over.

Barbora Bakova shot a 79 in today’s action and stands at eight-over 152 (73-79) and enters the final round tied at 58th.  Marie Lunackova shot a 77 during today’s round and stands tied at 15-over 159 (82-77).

The rest of the top-10 are bunched up with East Tennessee State seven strokes behind CCU at 15-over 591 (294-297).  The host team, College of Charleston and Charleston Southern are one shot back of ETSU with 16-over 592’s and Southern Mississippi is fifth at 17-over 593.

The rest of the top-10 are Delaware, 18-over 594, Jacksonville and Richmond tied at seven with 20-over 596’s.  Murray State is ninth with a 23-over 599 and in 10th in the 43 team event, is Georgia Southern at 25-over 601.

CCU will be joined by the top 22 teams in tomorrow’s championship bracket which will be played at Osprey Point while teams 23-43 will be played at Oak Point for flight championships.
