Lady Panthers go airborne for season-opening victory

cftrack-watkinsjumpIt’s safe to say that the Carolina Forest girls track and field team got off to a good jump to the 2017 season with a big win in a five-team meet on Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers rolled up an impressive 179 points to defeat Conway (91), Myrtle Beach (53), Dillon (21) and Latta (19). The Carolina Forest boys also won a four-team meet over Conway, Dillon and Latta.

The Carolina Forest girls dominated the field events and all the jumping-related competitions. Among the winners were Ashtyn Poirier in the 110 high hurdles (16:32), Kayla Watkins in the long jump (16-10), Zaria Frederick in the triple jump (30-5) and Jessica Mallo in the high jump (4-8).

Carolina Forest’s field event winners were Lafaye McDougal in the shutput (25-8), Doris Migliaccio in the discus (71-5) and Mya Eddleman in the pole vault (7-0).

The Lady Panthers also broke the tape on the 4X800 relay with the team of Madison Stewart, Carsen Carlin, Nora Gibbs, and Kim Garcia completing the course in a time of 11:57. Other top finishers are listed below:
