Locals top all-region team; MB’s Bodge earns all-state

Grand Strand area teams dominated the All-Region 7-4A team, and Myrtle Beach coach Meredith Jiorle was named Coach of the Year for capturing her first region title.

Myrtle Beach senior Carly Grace Bodge was named a first-team pitcher, posting a 17-6 record with a 1.20 ERA and 60 strikeouts. She also batted .313 with and 17 RBIs. She was named to the Class 4A all-state team last week.

St. James’ Kelsey Gollie was named first team catcher and made the all-state team.

The Lady Seahawks won a tiebreaker for the top seed with St. James and North Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach placed eight players on the all-region squad, while the Chiefs and Sharks each saw seven players selected. However, fourth-place Wilson claimed the Region Player of the Year in Brittany Sehnke.
