MB boys, girls post top-5s; NMB third at Lower States

mbxc-epsteinlsThe Myrtle Beach High boys cross country team finished second in the Class 3A Lower State meet in Darlington, and the Lady Seahawks also scored a top-five finish to qualify for next week’s state championship.

Myrtle Beach senior Ethan Epstein (16:47) finished second overall and eighth-grader Tyler Flannelly (17:40) took fifth to lead the Seahawks (82) to a runner-up finish behind winner Hilton Head (23).

The Lady Seahawks were led by seniors Morgan Apperson (19:42), who finished second overall, and Kailey Flannelly (22:00)in 15th place overall.

The North Myrtle Beach girls also qualified for the state with a third-place showing in a tight finish. The Lady Chiefs (135) edged Hartsville (136) and Myrtle Beach (138). Hilton Head (25) and Hanahan (82) took the top two spots.

The Lady Chiefs were led by Wilson Jenerette (20.46), Havana Charles (22.16), Taylor Monahan (22.32), Eden Fowler (22.41) and Emily Worsham (24.46) as the top six NMB runners set personal records. The other two runners on the team are Krista Drozdowski (24.49) and Renea Urbaniak (25.36) will join the team at next weekend’s state meet.
