MB Track & Field Club lets kids compete in free event

Myrtle Beach Track & Field Club will be hosting Track & Field Day for Kids (Boys & Girls) Ages 6-12 years old on Thursday, March 15 at Doug Shaw Stadium, 5:30 – 6:15pm with Registration beginning at 5pm. The event is free.

Co-Sponsored by Myrtle Beach Sports Tourism, Coastal Carolina University Men & Women’s Track & Field Team in conjunction with the CCU Shamrock Invitational Meet which will be host more than 50 collegiate teams from the US and Canada on Friday and Saturday, March 16-17 at Doug Shaw Stadium.

Kids will get an opportunity to participate in Run, Jump, Throw events that include the High Jump, Mini-Javelin Throw, Long Jump, Hurdles and Run/Relay along side CCU Track Athletes.

The Myrtle Beach Track & Field Club is currently accepting new athlete memberships registrations for the upcoming 2018 Outdoor Track Season with practice beginning the end of March and the first meet the end of April.

The outdoor season runs through June with the USATF South Carolina Junior Olympic Championships being hosted at Doug Shaw Stadium on June 22-24. The Top 5 qualifiers from SC Championships can compete in the USATF Region 4 (GA, SC, FL) Junior Olympic Championships will be held July 4-7 in Carrollton GA, the National JO Championships the end of July at NC AT&T&T in Greensboro NC.

Myrtle Beach Track Club a community based 501(c)(3) organization that is an affiliate of USA Track and Field Youth and Junior Olympics Programs. The club has year-round training, conditioning, development and travel competition programs in Track & Field (April – July) and Cross Country Running (October – December).

The Myrtle Beach Track & Field Club is open to boys and girls ages 6-18 years old in the Grand Strand within a 50-70 mile radius. Athletes receive developmental and USATF Certified coaching, training and development from a staff of accomplished high school, collegiate, international and Olympic level coaches. The club is home to more than 85 collective national, regional, state Junior Olympic champions and All-Americans since 2009.

Track and Field Athletes compete in running, throw, and jumping events in their respective age divisions that include 6-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18 that include 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, hurdles, relays, long/high jump, javelin, shot put and discus. In Cross Country events include the 2k, 3k, 4k, and 5k.

The Track Club is currently looking for Volunteer High Jump, Long Jump, Javelin, Shot Put Coaches and running coaching assistants for about 3-6 hours a week on Flex-Schedules or 6-7pm team practice schedules 2-3 days a week.
