CF boys run past Conway; Lady Panthers take first loss

The Carolina Forest boys track team defeated its fifth opponent within a 24-hour period on Thursday, while the girls suffered their first loss of the season to Conway.

The Panthers improved to 16-0 in Thursday’s home tri-meet by tallying 89.5 points to defeat Conway (73) and Lincoln (1).

The Conway girls, led by Raven Grant’s wins in the 100 and 200 meters, scored 93 points to deal the Lady Panthers (73) their first loss of the season. Lincoln finished with 10.5 points.

Both of Carolina Forest’s squads improved to 14-0 on Wednesday by defeating Horry County rivals Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach and St. James a day earlier.

The Lady Panthers scored 92 points in the event at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium, followed by North Myrtle Beach (60.5), Myrtle Beach (43.5) and St. James (31). Meanwhile, the Panthers also made it a perfect 14-0 on the season by accumulating 93 points, followed by the Seahawks (71). Sharks (48.5) and Chiefs (46.5).

Jackie Brengel led the Lady Panthers with a pair of victories in the 1600 and 3200 meters. Other event-winners for the Lady Panthers were Erin Farley (discus), Nia Payne (800m), Cristina Wright (400m hurdles), Mallory Hancock (100m hurdles), Zakia Brisbon (long jump) and Yishana Gordon (400m). Gordon, Ashleigh Turner, Payne and Zakia Brisbon also led Carolina Forest to first place in the 4x400m relay.

Leading the Panthers with first-place showings were Kaheem Comber (triple jump) and Shakiel White (long jump). Carolina Forest’s 4x800m relay team of Brandon Norman, DJ Hogan, Jessie Patrick & Dustin Conklin also broke the tape for the Panthers.
