Pelicans fall to Blue Rocks; playoff tickets on sale today

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans suffered a 9-1 defeat at the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Monday night, further harming their chances of hosting a playoff game this postseason.

With the loss, the Pelicans trail the Winston-Salem Dash by 3 1/2 games with only five remaining for the Carolina League Southern Division second-half championship. Still, that didn’t stop the team from putting playoff tickets on sale Tuesday.

Myrtle Beach will only host a first-round playoff game if it can overtake the Dash, or if it advances to the CL championship series. The Pelicans will host game #1 on September 5th at 7:05 pm. Otherwise, the entire first round, best-of-three games series between the Dash and Pelicans will take place in Winston-Salem.

The team‘s box office located at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark will begin selling tickets for up to three potential, home playoff games at 10 a.m. Tuesday.  The website www.myrtlebeachpelicans.com will also offer fans the opportunity to purchase tickets for playoff games in Myrtle Beach starting Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Ticket prices for Pelicans home playoff games will be $11 for field box seats, $9 for reserved box and Grand Strand reserved seats and $8 for seats in the leftfield Budweiser Thirst Inning Deck. Refunds will be made for games that are not played.

If the Pelicans advance to the Carolina League Championship Series, a best-of-five game match-up, Myrtle Beach would host games #1 & #2 scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 8th & 9th.
