Red-hot Chants crack Top 25, travel to face No. 6 Tar Heels

Riding a nine-game win streak, the Coastal Carolina baseball team broke into the Collegiate Baseball poll this week, coming in at 25th.

The Chanticleers are 16-6, including 13-3 in the month of March, and ended a 22-game home stand to start the season this past weekend with a three-game sweep over Albany.

Coastal will now embark on a nine-game road swing, starting Wednesday (Mar. 28) in Chapel Hill, N.C., facing #6 North Carolina. First pitch is set for 6 pm at Boshamer Stadium.

The game will be available via ESPN3 and on GameTracker. Also, Matt Hogue and Ryan Borawski will broadcast the contest on the Chanticleer Sports Network, including 100.3 FM (WSEA) ESPN “The Team” in Myrtle Beach and on www.GoCCUSports.com.

This is the first time Coastal has entered the one of the polls since being tabbed 35th by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association in the preseason. Coastal ended 2011 27th in Collegiate Baseball poll.

Last year (April 19, 2011), then #27 Coastal traveled to then #10 North Carolina and dropped an 8-3 decision to the Tar Heels. The Chants out-hit North Carolina, 10-9, but could not overcome a seven-run fifth inning by the Tar Heels.
