Saints step up to capture Bulldog Shootout crown

The Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach boys basketball team not only won the Bulldog Shootout on Tuesday night; the Saints also proved a point that they can win even when star player Mike Green has a rare off-night.

Coming off a pair of impressive 31-point performances in a loss to Freedom Christian on Monday, Green had a cold shooting night in the Georgetown Shootout championship game. But several Saints picked up their play to help Christian Academy claim a 63-50 victory over Oceanside Collegiate.

Sam Woods scored 22 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for a double-double, and Jaylen Johnson and Robert Guyton added 11 points apiece to lead the Saints. Green was limited to 6 points on 2 of 11 shooting but made it up for it on the boards with nine rebounds. Green still claimed MVP honors after averaging 20 points per game in the first two rounds.

Oceanside Collegiate’s Shane McCravy Jr. scored 28 points and was named MOP.
