The Myrtle Beach High volleyball team fell just short of winning last weekend’s Carolina Forest Invitational preseason tournament.
On Thursday, the Lady Seahawks opened the regular season with an even bigger tournament title in mind – a state championship.
Myrtle Beach (1-0) certainly looked the part in sweeping host Socastee 3-0 with set wins of 25-12, 25-12, 25-10, opening the season with a big win over the rival Lady Braves (0-2).
Myrtle Beach was led by Cassie Runyon with 15 kills and eight aces. Kathryn Hollingsworth five kills and Danni Hix turned in a match-high 30 assists.
The Lady Seahawks take part in another big tournament this weekend at North Myrtle Beach.
