Swanny’s Classic Roundup: NMB’s Poston lighting it up

Faith Baptist out of Brandon, Fla., featuring North Myrtle Beach’s Dylan Poston, defeated Veritas Christian from Asheville, N.C. by a score of 78-32 to open the Swanny’s Classic held at the North Myrtle Beach Recreation Center.

Veritas, playing without four of their starters, fell behind early and never came close to pulling back into it. Poston, who spent his last three years playing for the Chiefs, returned home to a gym full of family members cheering him on.

Despite reports that he wouldn’t play due to an injury received Thursday night, Poston came out firing in the first half and finished with 15 points, all from behind the 3-point line in a game that saw eleven 3-pointers total.

Faith Baptist’s second game of the day saw Poston put up 20 points, including three 3-pointers to lead all scorers in a defeat over St Ignatios Prep out of Drayton, S.C. After leading 47-26 at the half, Faith Baptist began to feel the effects of their second game of the day and allowed St Ignatios to pull within four points with 1 minute remaining. Faith Baptist held on for the win with a final of 67-62. Faith Baptist moves to 24-7 on the year.

Faith Baptist plays again Sunday at noon vs. Evelyn Mack Academy from North Carolina.
