Tennis: MB stays perfect; Panthers slip past Tigers

For the second consecutive day the Myrtle Beach High girls tennis team made quick work of a region opponent, sweeping Wilson on Wednesday at the Myrtle Beach Tennis Center.

No. 1 singles player Bailey Deskins, No. 2 Pazton Gentry, No. 3 Carrington Callihan, No. 4 Janell Horton and No. 5 Jalah Horton won their matches in straight sets

Myrtle Beach’s No. 2 doubles team of Scarlett Nash and Carly Starnes also won their match in straight sets. The No. 1 doubles match was not played.

The Lady Seahawks improved to 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in Region 7-4A.

* Carolina Forest 4, Conway 3: The Lady Panthers squeaked out a victory over the visiting Lady Tigers.

Carolina Forest’s No. 1 singles player Raleigh Keenan and No. 2 Mia Cabildo won their singles matches and teamed up to win No. 1 doubles. The clincher for the Lady Panthers came at No. 5 singles as Maggie-Louise Bellamy edged Anna-Grace Young 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8).
