The Myrtle Beach boys tennis team clinched sole possession of the Region 7-4A Region championship Tuesday with a 7-0 win over host St. James.
Leading the way for the Seahawks in singles were #1 Junior Josh Wallen winning over James Leonard 6-0, 6-0, #2 Junior John Cahill defeating Cameron Moore 6-0, 6-0, #3 8th Grader Rivers Cahill winning over Joseph Lewis 6-0, 6-1, #4 Junior Dever Smith defeating Ryan Cooper 6-0, 6-1, and #5 Freshman WJ Vaught winning over CJ Collins 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, the #1 team of eighth-grader Bailey Morrow and Junior James Angwin won 8-1 over Vance Leonard and Grant Davis, and the #2 team of Freshman Ryan Burch and Junior Paras Paudel defeated Mike Knight and Jack Seagle 8-1.
With the win, the Seahawks’ overall record moves to 13-2 and 5-0 in the region record. They play at Socastee at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
