Tennis: Saints stay perfect, reach SCISA state semis

cambtennis-joelThe Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach girls tennis team extended its undefeated season into the playoffs, defeating Hilton Head Christian 7-2 on Tuesday to advance to the SCISA Class 2A state semifinals.

No. 3 singles player Chloe Parker and No. 5 Grace Houghton won their respective matches via third-set, 10-point tiebreakers. They then teamed up to win No. 2 doubles to account for three wins between them.

No. 1 singles Tatianna Harrelson and No. 4 singles Grace Houghton also won their individual matches. Harrelson joined forced with Caroline Gore to take No. 1 doubles.

CAMB’s Sam Fanning and Greer Houghton claimed made it a doubles sweep for the Lady Saints (12-0) by winning at the No. 3 spot.

* Socastee 5, North Myrtle Beach 1: The Lady Braves (15-3) won their 15th consecutive match in a rain makeup against the Lady Chiefs.

Socastee swept the top four singles matches and won No. 2 doubles in a tuneup for next week’s Class 4A state tournament.

* Carolina Forest 5, Sumter 2: The Lady Panthers secured a spot in next week’s playoffs in Region 6-4A with a victory over the visiting Lady Gamecocks.
