Tennis: Seahawks sweep Warriors; CF falls to Bruins

Myrtle Beach’s lone senior celebrated Senior Day by taking part in the match of the afternoon that helped the Seahawks secure a 7-0 sweep over Waccamaw.

Senior Blake Long joined and Ryan Burch in No. 2 doubles to defeat Trip Chandler and Joe Phelan in an exciting third set tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-2, 10-8. The #1 doubles Team of Bailey Morrow and Carson Duerk won 8-4 over Harrison and Spencer Kemp

In singles action, #1 Joshua Wallen defeated Harrison Kemp 6-0, 6-2, #2 John Cahill defeated Spencer Kemp 6-0, 6-2, #3 Rivers Cahill won over Tucker Hendrix 6-3, 6-3, #4 Dever Smith won over Stephen Russell 6-0, 6-0 and #5 WJ Vaught defeated Will Tiller 6-0, 6-2.

The Seahawks (17-2) play their last match before the state playoffs will at 5 p.m. Thursday at rival North Myrtle Beach.

* South Florence 4, Carolina Forest 3: The Panthers went 1-2 in matches that involved third-set tiebreakers to suffer a close region loss to the Bruins.
