The Myrtle Beach High girls volleyball team opened the season in impressive fashion on Monday by sweeping rival Conway on the road.
Myrtle Beach won by scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-10. The Lady Seahawks (1-0) were led by Emily Wunder with 11 kills. Teammate Maggie Slabinski added 10 kills and Gracie Davis had six.
Myrtle Beach plays its home opener Wednesday against Socastee.
* Carolina Forest 3, St. James 0: The Lady Panthers stayed perfect on the season with a sweep over the visiting Lady Sharks, winning by scores of 25-18, 25-4 and 25-22.
The Lady Panthers (4-0) were led by Sam Maxim’s 15 service points. Hope Goodwin had eight kills and Alexis Tomlin and Elissa Small added seven apiece.
* Socastee 3, North Myrtle Beach 1: The Lady Braves knocked off the host Lady Chiefs in four sets in their regular season openers by scores of 25-17, 23-25, 25-11 and 25-17.
Mary D. Guest led the Lady Braves with a perfect night at the service, 17 digs and four kills. Dale Rogers had 17 kills, nine aces and four digs, and Megan Faris added nine kills.
